BCHL-180x240Jacob Berger made 43 saves, including 23 in the second period, and Tyler Ward provided the double-overtime winner in a 2-1 Merritt Centennials road win over the Vernon Vipers.

All the scoring in regulation came in the second period and within 1:04 seconds of play. Niko Karamanis opened the scoring for the Vipers at 16:06 of the middle frame and Cade Gleekel tied it at 17:10.

The third period saw no goals and it was the same in the 4-on-4 first overtime session. In 3-on-3 play in double OT, Ward converted a setup from Zach Risteau to deliver the win for the Cents.Ty Taylor made 36 saves for Vernon but the loss snapped a 10-game unbeaten streak for the Vipers.

Max Kaufman scored twice as part of a five-goal third period for the Langley Rivermen in a 6-3 road win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. Sean Gulka opened the scoring in the first for the visitors but the ‘Backs responded with two in the second courtesy of Jacob Kennedy and Trevor Ayre. Langley began the third getting four-straight tallies from Frank Boie, Andrew Dumaresque, John Schuldt and Kaufman. Josh Latta got one back for Salmon Arm but Kaufman finished things off with his second. Braedon Fleming made 34 saves for the win.

Kohen Olischefski’s second-period goal was the winner for the Chilliwack Chiefs in a 5-2 road win over the Prince George Spruce Kings. Will Calverley opened the scoring for the Chiefs a mere five seconds into the game and PG responded 30 seconds later on a Tyler Anderson goal. Olivier Arseneau restored the Chiefs lead near the midway point of the first and Olischefski supplied the decisive goal early in the second. Jake Smith and Jordan Kawaguchi scored in the third and Ben Brar got a late one for PG. Mark Sinclair made 27 saves for the win and was named 1st Star.

Carter Turnbull scored the first goal of the game and the last for the Powell River Kings in a 4-2 road win over the Victoria Grizzlies. Turnbull’s first goal was the only one in the first period and in the second, Cam Thompson and Justin Michaelian scored to put Victoria up 2-1. But Cam Donaldson tied the game heading to the third, where Tristan Mullin got the winner and  Turnbull got his second into an empty net. Mitch Adamyk made 23 saves for the win.

Mat Robson made all 24 saves and five different players scored in a Penticton Vees 6-0 home win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Matt Gosiewski’s goal in the first was all that was needed but Nic Jones also scored in the opening frame. Taylor Sanheim and Joey Leahy scored in the second and Mitch Meek and Jones, with his second, tallied in the third.

Colin Burston’s goal in the first period wound up being all that was needed but five other players tallied for the Wenatchee Wild in a 6-0 home win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals. AJ Vanderbeck, Jacob Modry and Charlie Combs all scored in the second and Sam Morton and Jasper Weatherby had the final markers in the third. Devin Cooley made 11 saves for the win.

The Trail Smoke Eaters scored seven goals in the first period, including two in the first minute, en route to a 19-3 home win over the Surrey Eagles. Josh Laframboise had three of his four goals on the night in the opening frame while Darius Davidson and Cole Williams had goals for Surrey. Luke Santerno had a goal each period for Trail and Connor Brown-Maloski set up four goals in addition to scoring two of his own. Linden Marshall made 28 saves for the win.
