The BCHL has announced an official partnership with The Coaches Site – an online resource for coaches from all levels of hockey.

The Coaches Site features conference panel videos, white-board tutorials, on-ice videos, articles and interviews with coaches from the NHL, NCAA, junior, international and minor hockey.

“We’re always looking for ways to be progressive and support the development of our players and team personnel,” said BCHL Executive Director Steven Cocker. “The Coaches Site is an excellent coaching resource and database that gives back to all BCHL coaches, many of whom are already active users. The site provides tools and support for coaches while giving them the opportunity to learn and share information with their peers at the highest levels around the world. We’re excited to grow this partnership in the years to come.”

After being forced to cancel their annual Coaches Conference and 10-year anniversary celebration due to COVID-19, the Coaches Site is instead hosting their first-ever Virtual Summit on Sep. 25 and 26.

Presenters for the Summit include former Jack Adams Award winner Bruce Boudreau, Calgary Flames General Manager Brad Treliving, Edmonton Oilers Assistant Coach Glen Gulutzan, Swedish U20 Head Coach Tomas Monten and Scott Salmond, Hockey Canada’s Senior VP of National Teams.

The event will also include a panel on Pathways for Women in Hockey and an interview with Lawrence Scott, Director of Player Development for the Army West Point football program on racial diversity in sport.

Also on the list of speakers is the BCHL’s own Fred Harbinson who is the president, general manager and head coach of the Penticton Vees.

“Fred Harbinson has established himself and the Penticton Vees program as one of the top developers of amateur talent in North America,” said Aaron Wilbur, CEO and Founder of the Coaches Site. “We’re excited to provide him a platform to share his experience and insights with a global coaching audience.”

More speakers will be announced in the coming weeks.
