The BCHL has announced three additions to the league office staff ahead of the 2026-27 season. The league has hired Sean Clifford as its new Chief Commercial Officer, Matt Holbrook as Deputy Commissioner and Jordan Dobrew as its Digital Media Specialist.
In his role as Chief Commercial Officer, Clifford will work with the league and its member clubs to identify new commercial opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, strengthen existing revenue streams and position the BCHL for continued growth and innovation.
The Vancouver, B.C. native brings more than a decade of experience in sports partnerships, revenue generation and commercial strategy across some of North America’s most prominent professional sports organizations. Prior to joining the BCHL, he served as a Director with Canucks Sports & Entertainment, where he led the organization’s partnership sales team.
Clifford also worked in senior commercial roles with the Los Angeles Kings and AEG, as well as serving as Senior Director of Partnerships and a commercial consultant with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I’m incredibly excited to join the BCHL and contribute to the continued growth and evolution of the league,” said Clifford. “I’m looking forward to developing a strategic approach to commercial growth, unlocking new opportunities and creating long-term value for our teams, partners, fans and the broader BCHL community.”
As the BCHL’s Deputy Commissioner, Holbrook will oversee the league’s rapidly growing independent development system. One of his key roles will be as Commissioner of the newly formed Western International Junior Hockey League (WIJHL), which starts its inaugural season on Friday.
Holbrook, who resides in Kelowna, B.C., brings more than two decades of sports management, operations and organizational leadership experience to the BCHL. Most recently serving as Executive Director of the Westside Youth Soccer Association, he has driven organizational growth through strategic program development, corporate partnerships, and community-focused member engagement across Western Canada. His extensive background in sports administration includes 13 years with BC Soccer, where he served as General Manager of the BC Soccer Premier League, leading league scheduling, major event operations, and athlete development initiatives. Holbrook also contributed to professional club development with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC as its Youth Development Manager for four years.
“After working for more than 20 years at the highest level of amateur sport, specifically building and working within the player development pathway in youth soccer, I am excited for this great challenge with the BCHL and the WIJHL, and their hockey partners across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest,” said Holbrook.
As the Digital Media Specialist for the BCHL, Dobrew will help the BCHL continue to grow its social media platforms through video production, graphic design, interviews and more.
Dobrew, who lives in Coquitlam, B.C., has been involved with the BCHL for nearly five years, working for multiple teams and interning at the league office. He graduated from BCIT’s Radio Arts and Entertainment program in 2025.
“I’m excited to be back working with the BCHL,” said Dobrew. “I have gained valuable experience since I last was a part of the league as an intern in the 2025 playoffs. I’m excited to bring engaging content to BCHL fans this season.”
