After four seasons in the BCHL, including 211 regular season games and 14 in the playoffs, Merritt Centennials defenceman Tyrell Buckley will be moving on to play for the Michigan Tech Huskies in the 2018-19 season.
Currently unable to play in Merritt’s playoff series with the Wenatchee Wild due to injury, the Centennials captain still managed a solid regular season, finishing with career-highs in goals, assists and points.
Michigan Tech plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) in the NCAA’s Division I. The Huskies feature a slew of former BCHL talent on their current roster, including Dane Birks, Cooper Watson, Alex Gillies, Jake Jackson, Gavin Gould, Jake Lucchini, Tyler Rockwell, Evan Anderson, Mitch Meek, Brent Baltus and Devin Kero.
Buckley will be joined by fellow current BCHL players Marcus Mitchell of the Penticton Vees and Jagger Williamson of the Vernon Vipers, who are also committed to play for Michigan Tech next season.
