Chilliwack Chiefs forward Will Calverley has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 13, the league announced Monday.
The Chiefs captain led by example on Sunday afternoon at the RBC Cup, scoring all four goals in a comeback victory over the Ottawa Jr. Senators, three of which were deflections, as the Chiefs won their first game in nine weeks 4-3 in OT.
Calverley scored his first of the night with seven-minutes left in the second period to get the home side on the board as they trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes. He would then deflect two in front of Senators goalie Connor Hicks to force overtime before tipping another past the keeper 4:55 into overtime. Calverley was awarded player of the game for his efforts.
The 19-year-old from Scarborough, Ont. lead the Chiefs in points this season with 46 in 55 games. The Chiefs currently sit in second place behind the Wenatchee Wild at the RBC Cup with three points. They are back in action on Tuesday night against the Wellington Dukes. For a full tournament schedule, available on Hockey Canada’s website Click here
