A trio of former BCHL stars have are in the NCAA headlines this week with another batch of conference player awards.
Wenatchee Wild graduate Charlie Combs, who led the BCHL with 51 goals last season, was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) rookie of the week after scoring twice for Bemidji State in a non-conference game against Princeton and finishing the weekend with a +2 rating. Former Langley Rivermen standout Max Kaufman is also rookie of the week in his conference, Hockey East, where his a freshman at the University of Vermont. The native of Pittsford, N.Y. scored the overtime winner and was named 1st Star against Dartmouth as the Catamounts claimed a 2-1 road win. (CLICK HERE to read the full Hockey East release).
Chilliwack Chiefs alumnus Aidan Pelino was busy for Bentley University in a pair of home wins over Atlantic Hockey rival Robert Morris University. The product of Oakville, Ont. stopped 61 of 65 shots in the two victories and was named 1st Star in the first game. (CLICK HERE to read the full Atlantic Hockey release).
