As memorable moments go in a player’s hockey career, it’s probably safe to assume this one is right at the very top for Salmon Arm Silverbacks alum Shane Hanna.
The senior defenceman at Michigan Tech scored the double-overtime winner in front of a packed home crowd to give the Huskies a 3-2 victory and clinch the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) title.
Michigan Tech secured a spot in the NCAA tournament with the win. The Huskies are a No. 4 seed and will face No. 1-seed Denver on Saturday, March 25 in the Midwest Regional being semifinal played in Cincinatti.
The Huskies have an NCAA-high 13 BCHL graduates on their roster.
