Jacklin named top rookie for week in Atlantic Hockey conference

The Atlantic Hockey Association has named Robert Morris freshman forward and Trail Smoke Eaters alum Scott Jacklin the Travel Team USA Rookie of the Week after the newcomer helped the team nearly double its league points over the weekend.

Jacklin tallied three points (two goals, one assist) as the Coloials picked up three key points over the weekend against Army. The Kimberley, B.C. native opened the weekend with an assist on Nick Chiavetta’s first period goal during Friday’s 5-2 win over Army and added an insurance goal in the second period for RMU.

Jacklin, who finished the weekend as a plus-three, would tally another goal in the second period of Saturday’s 3-3 overtime tie with the Black Knights. Jacklin is tied for the Colonials’ freshmen scoring lead with five points (three goals, two assists), all coming in the last three games – an unbeaten span for Robert Morris.

The honor marks the first time in Robert Morris’ two-year history with the league that a member of the squad has earned Travel Team USA Rookie of the Week honors.

In four seasons in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Trail Smoke Eaters, Jacklin scored 65 goals and 129 assists for 194 points in 209 games.
