Trail Smoke Eaters forward Kent Johnson has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 27, the league announced Monday.
The 17-year-old had four goals and five assists for nine points in three games last week.
Johnson started his week with a pair of assists in a 4-2 loss to the Penticton Vees on Wednesday. On Friday in West Kelowna, he scored twice in the first period and was named the game’s second star as the Smoke Eaters eventually beat the Warriors 4-3 in a shootout. For his encore performance, he had two goals and three assists on Saturday at home against the Warriors in an 8-1 win and was named second star again.
This is his second Player of the Week award this season.
Through 19 games this season, the Port Moody, B.C. native leads the BCHL with 37 points in 19 games.
