1st Star – Parker Lalonde (F) – Brooks Bandits
Lalonde led all BCHL players with six points in two games last week on three goals and three assists.
In the Bandits season opener on the road against the Okotoks Oilers on Friday, the 20-year-old registered three assists in a 5-0 victory. Lalonde contributed two primary assists in the first period, including one on the power play, and added a second helper in the middle frame.
The following night, in a rematch at home against Okotoks, the fourth-year BCHL veteran notched a hat trick in a 5-1 victory and was named first star of the game. With the score tied 1-1 in the first period, Lalonde scored twice within 2:26 to give his team a 3-1 lead at intermission. He completed the hat trick late in the second period, scoring the fifth goal of the game.
2nd Star – Drew Hockley (D) – Victoria Grizzlies
Hockley led all defencemen with five points over the weekend after he put up three goals and two assists in two victories against the Powell River Kings.
The second-year blueliner had a goal and an assist in the Grizzlies season opener on the road Friday in a 6-5 triumph over Powell River. Hockley notched a power-play assist in the first period, then scored a goal of his own with the man advantage in the second.
In the rematch in Powell River on Saturday, the 19-year-old scored another two goals and added an assist in a 5-4 win, including the overtime winner. Hockley picked up an assist on the power play in the second period, then with the Grizzlies down one, he scored the tying goal with less than three minutes to go in the third to force overtime. He eventually sealed the game with a goal 3:10 into extra time to seal the win.
