Merritt Centennials defenceman Aleksey Chichkin has been added to the Top Prospects Game and Cowichan Valley Capitals defenceman William Elias will now represent his team at the outdoor All-Star Tournament next weekend in Penticton.
Chickin will replace former Capitals defenceman Aaron Brown on Team West after Brown was acquired by the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL earlier this week, while Elias while replace his former teammate Luke Strickland who was traded to the Wellington Dukes of the OJHL on Tuesday.
Chichkin is a 2005-born defenceman, playing in his rookie season in the BCHL. The New Westminster, B.C. native has a goal and six assists through 27 games this year.
Elias is a 2003-born blueliner and is also a rookie. The College of the Holy Cross commit has 16 points in 31 games for the Caps this season and is the team’s top-scoring defender.
The BCHL’s Top Prospects Game takes place on Friday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. at the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton, while the outdoor All-Star festivities are on Saturday, Jan. 21.
