Penticton Vees defenceman James Miller has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14, the league announced Monday.
The 20-year-old from Spruce Grove, Alta. finished the week with six points (3-3-6) in three games as the Vees won twice and lost once in a shootout.
On Wednesday, Miller potted a pair of goals and added two assists for his first career four-point game and was named first star in a 6-2 Penticton win over the Merritt Centennials. After going pointless in the Vees 3-2 shootout loss against the the Salmon Arm Silverback on Friday, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound blueliner had another multi-point effort the next night with a goal and an assist in Penticton’s 4-1 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
After his six-point week, Miller now leads the BCHL in points by defencemen with 13 (5-8-13) in 12 games.
