Wenatchee Wild forward Sam Morton has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Feb. 16.
In three games last week, the 20-year-old from Lafayette, Colo. had three goals and five assists for eight points, including two game-winning goals.
On Friday, Morton scored the eventual game-winner shorthanded in the second period and added a pair of assists as the Wild beat the Vernon Vipers 5-2 at home. He was named the second star of the game.
The following night against the Chilliwack Chiefs, the recent Minnesota State commit repeated his three-point performance with another goal and two assists and another game-winner, this time with less than five minutes to play in the third period, as the Wild beat the Chiefs 4-2 at home. Morton was named the game’s first star.
On Sunday, Morton notched his third multi-point effort in a row with a goal and an assist in a 4-1 road win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
Since returning to the Wild from Union College in early December, Morton has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 24 games and leads the team with 1.25 points-per-game.
