Penticton Vees forwards Bradly and Josh Nadeau and Chilliwack Chiefs goaltender Austin McNicholas have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week

1st Star – Bradly Nadeau (F) – Penticton Vees

No surprise here as Nadeau reeled off seven goals in just two games over the weekend, while also adding one assist, to finish with eight points as Penticton won their opening two playoff games.

On Friday, the University of Maine commit put forth a four-goal effort for the second time in his BCHL career and the first time in the postseason as his team won Game 1 8-2. Nadeau scored twice in the first period to give the Vees a 3-1, then added one in the second and another in the third.

The following night, Nadeau stayed hot with another three goals, while adding an assist to finish with four points for the second game in a row. The 2023 NHL Draft prospect again spread out the scoring evenly, scoring once in each period as the Vees won by an 8-4 final. He was named first star in both contests.

After the first weekend of playoff action, Nadeau leads the league in goals with seven and points with eight. Going back to last year’s Fred Page Cup Finals, the 17-year-old has 10 goals in his last three postseason games.

2nd Star – Josh Nadeau (F) – Penticton Vees

The elder Nadeau brother had a goal and six assists in Penticton’s two wins last weekend to finish with seven points.

The 19-year-old earned a primary assist on three of his brother’s four goals in Game 1 on Friday night in an 8-2 victory.

On Saturday, Nadeau scored his first of the postseason on the power play, while also adding three more helpers to finish with four points on the night.

His six assists lead the BCHL through the first weekend of postseason play and his seven points rank second, one back of the league lead.

3rd Star – Austin McNicholas (G) – Chilliwack Chiefs

McNicholas won both of his starts over the weekend, stopping 59 of the 62 shots he faced to earn a .952 save percentage and a 1.47 goals-against average.

In Game 1 against the Coquitlam Express on Friday night, the 2004-born netminder stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced to backstop his team to a 4-1 victory on the road. A night later, McNicholas made 27 saves in his team’s 3-2 overtime win to take a 2-0 series lead back home to Chilliwack.

His 1.47 GAA leads the BCHL after the first weekend of playoff action, while his .952 save percentage ranks second.
