Penticton Vees – 2
Prince George Spruce Kings – 1

The Penticton Vees got two-late period goals, including the game-winner with just five seconds remaining in the third, to defeat the Prince George Spruce Kings 2-1 and win Game 1 of their second-round series.

Prince George got the scoring started on a Simon Labelle goal 6:16 into the game and took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Bradley Nadeau got Penticton back on even terms with his second of the postseason with 22 seconds remaining in the second period and that 1-1 score held up all the way until the final seconds of the game when Josh Nadeau scored the winner with five seconds to spare.

With Spruce Kings starter Aaron Trotter out with an injury, Jordan Fairlie made his first start of the playoffs and stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced. On the other side, Kaeden Lane continued his strong postseason for the Vees, making 24 stops to get the win. The Nadeau brothers each added an assist to their goals in the game to finish with two point apiece.

The teams get the night off tomorrow before Penticton hosts Game 2 on Saturday night.
