Skapski inks with Ryerson

With his junior hockey eligibility expiring, Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Mitch Skapski will head to Ontario for his college hockey career.

The product of Abbotsford, B.C. has committed to the Ryerson University Rams of USports for the 2017-18 season. The Rams are based out of Toronto, Ont. and play in the West division of Ontario University Athletics.

Skapski had a four-season career in the BCHL that saw him play for the Chilliwack Chiefs and Salmon Arm Silverbacks before ending his junior career with the Capitals.

In 141 games played, Skapski tallied 35 goals and 41 assists with 12 goals coming on the power play. His most successful statistical season came during his final campaign as he posted 21 goals and 26 assists in time split between the Silverbacks and the Capitals.

The left-shot forward will join a Rams club that finished with a record of 22-4-2 and 46 points, as Ryerson finished atop the OUA’s West division standings. Skapski is the only BCHL recruit on the Rams heading into the 2017-18 season.

Ryerson competes in a division that includes York, Guelph, Laurier, Brock, Windsor, Lakehead, Waterloo, Western and Toronto.
