The Vipers defeat the Silverbacks 6-5

The Vernon Vipers' offense had a big night, peppering the Salmon Arm Silverbacks with 30 shots throughout the game. The Vernon Vipers took the lead before the halfway point in the third on a goal from Jimmy Lambert.

Tanner Wishnowski contributed with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists). Mitchell Stapley delivered for his team with 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) and Riley Hayles did his part, adding 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first, Mitchell opened the scoring for Salmon Arm with a goal at 4:54 with helpers from his teammates Stapley and Mostat. Wishnowski answered for the Vipers with a goal at 7:24 with helpers from his linemates, Lambert and Stapley. Hayles answered for the Silverbacks with a goal at 11:54 with assists from Thomas and Hogg. Stapley answered for Vernon with a goal at 15:44 with helpers from his linemates, Lambert and Lansdell. Hirose answered for Salmon Arm with a goal at 19:44 with an assist from his defensive partner, Hayles.

In the second period, Stapley put in a goal at 2:21 with helpers from Schandor and Wakeford. Stapley answered for the Vipers with a goal at 7:31 with assists from his linemates, Wishnowski and Lambert. Prokop quickly followed with a goal at 9:13 with helpers from his linemates, Swetlikoff and Bilodeau.

During the third period, Mostat answered for the Silverbacks with a goal at 3:47 with assists from Mitchell and Stapley. Lambert answered for the Vipers with a goal at 10:18 with helpers from Kelly and Sandhu. Lambert deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:39 with assists from his linemates, Wishnowski and Stapley.

Vernon’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Taylor as he stopped 19 of the 24 shots he faced. On the other hand, Taylor’s counterpart, Didur, and Salmon Arm’s defense did not have such a great night stopping only 24 of 30 shots.
