Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Oliver Auyeung-Ashton has been named the BCHL High School Player of the Month for March.
This award is for players 18-years-old or younger who are attending high school full-time and is based on in-class and on-ice performance.
Auyeung-Ashton posted a .918 save percentage during the month, winning five games and starting 10 of his team’s 11 March matchups.
His best performance came on Mar. 10 when he stopped 42 of 43 shots and earned first star of the game in a 3-1 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
Auyeung-Ashton finishes the regular season with the second-best save percentage in the BCHL with a mark of .927, the fourth-best goals-against average at 2.48 and the second-most shutouts with five, all while playing the second most minutes of any goaltender.
In the classroom, the Coquitlam, B.C. product is currently taking Pre-Calculus 12 and has an A letter grade. He also recently earned an A in English 12 and History 12.
Auyeung-Ashton will return to Heritage Woods Secondary School in Port Moody, B.C. to graduate when the BCHL season concludes.
