Warriors’ Jebson named BCHL Player of the Week

Westside Warriors netminder Kevin Jebson was named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player for the Week for the week of October 27th to November 2nd, the league announced Monday.

Jebson led the Warriors to five of a possible six points in the three games he played on the team's four-game Vancouver Island road trip. The 19-year old Surrey native started the week with a 25-save performance in a 4-1 victory over the Victoria Grizzlies. A night later, he held the Cowichan Valley Capitals to three goals in a double-overtime loss.

On Friday, Jebson recorded his second shutout of the season, blanking the Nanaimo Clippers in a 4-0 Warriors win. For the week, he recorded a 1.28 goals-against average and a .948 save percentage and compiled a 2-0-1 record.

“Kevin played some great hockey for us,” Warriors head coach Mark Howell said. “In Nanaimo, he was a big part of us killing off 11 penalties and he looked really calm in net. There are times when he makes it look easy.”

Jebson currently leads all BCHL starters with a 2.48 goals-against average in 16 games this season. He also stands near the top of the league's leaders in wins (9) and save percentage (.909).

The Warriors finished 3-0-1 on the four-game trip and now return home to face the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday evening.
