West Kelowna Warriors forward Marcus Joughin has been named the FortisBC BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 11.
The 19-year-old finished off his season with a bang, leading all scorers over the final week of the pod schedule with 10 points, racking up two goals and eight assists in four games.
After being held off the scoresheet on Monday in a Warriors 2-1 loss to the Vernon Vipers, Joughin picked things up in a big way on Wednesday when he chipped in with three assists in West Kelowna’s 5-4 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. He was named first star of the game.
The Tecumseh, Ont. native kept it rolling on Saturday with a four-point effort as he notched two goals and two assists in a 7-6 shootout victory in a rematch against Salmon Arm, including the game-tying goal in the third period which sent it to extra time. He was again named the game’s first star.
In the season finale on Sunday, Joughin assisted on all three Warriors goals and was named the game’s third star as they dropped a 4-3 decision to Vernon. It was the third game in a row that he put up at least three points.
Joughin finished the season as West Kelowna’s leading scorer with 23 points in 15 games, tying him for 14th overall in the league.
