John Wojciechowski’s hometown of Larchmont, N.Y. lies less than a half hour’s drive from the Connecticut state border and while he’s made a wide detour to B.C. this season, the strides he’s made with the Langley Rivermen will take him back to his roots next season.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound forward has committed to the University of Connecticut (UConn) for next season. Wojciechowski has accumulated 12 goals and 18 assists for 30 points this season, good enough for third in team scoring.
His large frame has always drawn attention but the rounding out of his offensive game has allowed him to secure the NCAA future he was in search of.
At UConn, Wojciechowski will join a Huskies program that competes in the NCAA’s Hockey East conference along with UMass, Providence, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Boston College, Northeastern, Boston University, UMass-Lowell and Merrimack.
BCHL alums on the Huskies roster this season are Miles Gendron, Jeff Wight and Jesse Schwartz. Other current BCHLers committed to UConn for future seasons are Eric Linell, Jonny Evans, Carter Turnbull, Kale Howarth and Michael Young.
