Harvard on the horizon for Express standout Kerfoot

Coquitlam Express forward Alex Kerfoot has parlayed his outstanding rookie BCHL campaign into an opportunity to play for Harvard University beginning in the fall of 2013.

Kerfoot finished tied for second in scoring on the Express last season with 69 points which included 44 assists. The West Vancouver won the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy as the Coastal Conference Rookie of the Year and also took home the Bob Fenton Trophy as most sportsmanlike player.

In November, Kerfoot was part of the gold-medal winning Team Canada West squad at the World Junior A Challenge in Langley. In that event, Kerfoot scored the winning goal in overtime to defeat Sweden in the semifinals.

Last season, Kerfoot was the Express top academic player and was featured in the January edition of Smart Hockey Magazine in the Academic All-Stars issue.

This commitment is the second to Harvard of this offseason. Earlier this summer, West Kelowna Warriors defenceman Adam Plant committed to the renowned school.

Kerfoot, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound 18-year-old, will play one more BCHL season before heading off to college.
