Turnbull earns NCAA deal to UConn

TurnbullBasically a point-per-game player over his two seasons in the BCHL, Powell River Kings forward Carter Turnbull will get the chance to show he can be productive in college hockey too.

Turnbull has accepted an NCAA Div. I opportunity to the University of Connecticut, or UConn, for the 2018-19 season.

Over the course of 100 BCHL games with the Kings, and four as an affiliate with Cowichan Valley, Turnbull has accumulated 48 goals and 50 assists for 98 points. Turnbull represented Team Canada West at each of the last two World Junior A Challenge tournaments and earned a gold medal in 2015.

At UConn, Turnbull will join a Huskies team that is in its third season as a member of the Hockey East conference. UConn competes against Boston University, Boston College, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, UMass-Lowell, Merrimack, Northeastern, Notre Dame and Providence.

Other BCHL alums on the Huskies roster are Jeff Wight, Evan Richardson, Miles Gendron and Jesse Schwartz.

Turnbull is currently the only BCHLer committed to UConn.
