CJHL Weekly Top-20

cjhl-top205CALGARY, Alberta (October 3, 2016) – As the page turns on a new month, the CJHL finds only four teams still unbeaten across the country in what is already shaping up to be a very competitive and evenly balanced regular season.

In the BCHL, the Wenatchee Wild are already pulling away from the rest of the league with a very impressive start. The Penticton Vees are sticking close, and several teams from the Island Division and Mainland Division are showing early strength. The AJHL has just successfully completed its Annual Showcase and the league is showing far more early competitive balance than some recent seasons. The Okotoks Oilers are playing very well, as are the Spruce Grove Saints, and it is wonderful to see the Calgary Canucks jump off to a fast start, too.

In Saskatchewan, the Humboldt Broncos are flexing their muscles as are the Flin Flon Bombers, and the Estevan Bruins as the SJHL Showcase just ended in Warman, Saskatchewan. The Steinbach Pistons remain unbeaten in the MJHL, and are being closely pursued by the Selkirk Steelers and the Portage Terriers. The Thunder Bay North Stars remain unbeaten in the SIJHL, and in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Cochrane Crunch are just ahead of the Soo Thunderbirds at the top of the standings.

The OJHL has also just wrapped its own Governors Showcase this past week in Buffalo, NY., and the early leaders in the OJHL still include the Trenton Golden Hawks, and the Wellington Dukes; while the Carleton Place Canadians are leading the way in the CCHL. The Cobras de Terrebonne are also unbeaten in the LHJQ and the College Francais de Longueuil are also playing extremely well early in the campaign. In the Maritime Hockey League, the Yarmouth Jr. ‘A’ Mariners remain unbeaten, and are still being closely pursued by the Miramichi Timberwolves.
