Penticton Vees forward Callum Arnott, Alberni Valley Bulldogs defenceman Jax Wismer and Vernon Vipers forward Nick Mikan have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.

1st Star – Callum Arnott (F) – Penticton Vees

Arnott averaged three points per game last week, piling up three goals and three assists in a pair of Vees wins.

The University of Minnesota-Duluth commit scored his first-career BCHL hat trick in Friday night’s home game against the Cranbrook Bucks. He opened the scoring for the Vees late in the first, then stretched the lead to 2-0 with his second of the game less than four minutes into the second. He completed the hat trick with a third-period goal and also added an assist along the way for a career-best four-point outing in a 5-1 victory. He was named first star of the game.

The following night on the road against the Merritt Centennials, Arnott contributed two assists, including one while shorthanded, in Penticton’s 5-2 win.

The 19-year-old is tied for the Vees scoring lead with 20 points, which puts him in a tie for sixth overall in the BCHL scoring race.

2nd Star – Jax Wismer (D) – Alberni Valley Bulldogs

Wismer tied for the league lead in points last week and also posted the most points among BCHL defencemen with six in three games.

The 2005-born blueliner had a goal and two assists in Alberni’s midweek road win over the Nanaimo Clippers. With the Bulldogs down 2-0 in the first, Wismer’s power-play assist helped get his team on the board, then his goal midway through the third sparked the Alberni comeback from down 5-2. He also assisted on the tying goal late in the third in an eventual 6-5 overtime win.

Wismer kept his point streak alive on Friday night with an assist in a 5-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies, then extended it even further with a two-assist effort in Sunday afternoon’s 6-4 victory against the Powell River Kings.

Now riding a four-game point streak, three of which were multi-point outings, the University of Connecticut commit sits fourth in defenceman scoring in the BCHL with 17 points in 16 games.

3rd Star – Nick Mikan (F) – Vernon Vipers

Mikan only joined the Vipers on Oct. 27, but the Edina, Minn. native has already made a lasting impression. He finished last week with four goals in two games, including his first hat trick in the BCHL.

His three-goal performance came in a Nov. 1 game against the Cranbrook Bucks. The 19-year-old scored Vernon’s seventh, ninth and 10th goals in their 10-2 win. He was the second Viper to record a hat trick that game, joining teammate Adam Csabi.

Mikan scored his fourth of the week in Friday night’s game against the Prince George Spruce Kings. His goal midway through the second period was Vernon’s sixth of the game in a matchup they won 8-0

Mikan, who is committed to the University of St. Thomas, now has four points in four games as a Viper.
