Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Camden Bajzer, West Kelowna Warriors goaltender Dawson Labre and Prince George Spruce Kings forward Skogen Schrott have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week, for the week ending Nov. 10.
1st Star – Camden Bajzer (F) – Cowichan Valley Capitals
Bajzer led all BCHL players with six points in two games last week, finishing play with a goal and five assists in Cowichan’s two-game road series last weekend against the Prince George Spruce Kings.
The 2004-born forward tallied a goal and two helpers on Friday night in the Capitals 6-5 overtime loss to the Spruce Kings. With his team down 3-0 in the first period, Bajzer scored his seventh of the season on a power play to spark a comeback. He added a power-play assist in the final minute of the opening frame and then another assist on Cowichan’s fifth goal of the game in the second.
On Saturday, the Bowling Green State University commit had a trio of assists, spreading them out with one per period, in his team’s 8-4 victory, helping them to three of four available points on the weekend.
Bajzer now has 18 points in 17 games this year, just one back of the Capitals scoring lead. His seven goals are also one back of most on his team.
2nd Star – Dawson Labre (G) – West Kelowna Warriors
Labre won both of his starts last week, stopping 47 of 48 shots across two games and earning his first career BCHL shutout.
The product of Les Cèdres, Que. got the start in last Tuesday’s home matchup against the Penticton Vees where he stopped all 29 shots he faced to blank his opponents in a 3-0 victory. Penticton piled on 15 shots in the third period alone as they mounted a comeback, but Labre denied every opportunity. He was named first star of the game.
On Friday in West Kelowna’s first ever matchup with the Blackfalds Bulldogs, the 20-year-old got the start again. This time, he stopped 18 of the 19 shots he faced and earned a second straight victory in a 2-1 final.
Across 13 appearances this year, Labre has a 5-5-3 record and a 2.89 goals-against average.
3rd Star – Skogen Schrott (F) – Prince George Spruce Kings
Schrott notched three goals and two assists over the weekend as Prince George split their weekend set with the Cowichan Valley Capitals.
The second-year Spruce King had a goal and an assist on Friday in his team’s 6-5 overtime win. Both of his points came in the first period as he helped PG take an early 3-0 lead. He assisted on the first goal of the game 3:12 into the contest, then potted one of his own just over eight minutes later.
In the rematch on Saturday, Schrott had three points on a pair of goals and an assist in the Spruce Kings 8-4 defeat. With his team down 3-1 in the middle frame, the 2005-born forward netted two goals in a span of 3:16 to briefly tie the game. He added a power-play assist in the third, but the comeback fell short.
