The BCHL and Rogers have extended their partnership for the next three years, the league announced today.
As one of the league’s Founding Partners, Rogers will now have naming rights to the league championship trophy, which will be renamed the Rogers BCHL Cup, formerly known as the Fred Page Cup, starting this season. They will also continue to be highly visible throughout the BCHL with a patch on every jersey, title sponsorship of the playoffs and supporter of the Rogers BCHL Scholarship Program and Kyle Turris Community Award, while introducing new initiatives like the Volunteer of the Month award.
“We are thrilled to extend this partnership with Rogers, who are one of Canada’s most recognizable companies,” said BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker. “Their continued support has allowed our league to grow significantly year over year and this agreement ensures that we will be able to continue on that upward trajectory going forward.”
The BCHL originally partnered with Shaw Communications in 2019, before they merged with Rogers in April of 2023.
“We’re excited to continue building on our partnership with the BCHL, a league that plays a vital role in developing young athletes and connecting communities across British Columbia and Alberta,” said Terrie Tweddle, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Rogers. “Together, we’re investing in the future of hockey and creating more opportunities for young athletes to thrive – on and off the ice.”
Fred Page, who was an integral part of the BCHL’s rich history, will now be honoured as the namesake of the league’s Executive of the Year award. Page, a former league executive himself, held many different roles in his BCHL tenure from 1979 to 1996, including President, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Governors.
