BCHL attendance numbers on the rise in 2009

Support for BCHL teams is up from last year.

After another season of keeping fans on the edge of their seats attendance totals are in and numbers are up.

Nine of the 16 teams, which make up the BCHL saw an increase in the number of fans that came out to the rink.

Vernon Vipers supporters led the league last season and are still holding on to the top spot this season with standout attendance numbers, averaging 2,185 bodies in the stands a game.

While Penticton Vees fans are making a strong push to over throw the Vipers high attendance records, falling just short with an average turn out of 2,028 per game. An increase of 36 per cent from last years numbers.

And while their average fan base per game wasn't quite as high as Penticton or Vernon this season, Langley Chiefs fans stepped up their efforts with attendance counts increasing by over 55 per cent this season from last.

The Prince George Spuce Kings also saw, on average, an extra 187 fans coming out to each of their home games.

Overall support for the league is growing. Compared to last year, 21,926 more people came out to cheer on their teams durring this regular season run.
