BCHL graduate Brodie Reid named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

Freshman forward Brodie Reid of the Northeastern University Huskies picked up the school's third individual Hockey East award of the season after being heralded as the Rookie of the Week on Monday, Jan. 10.

Reid collected the award after a two-goal performance in Northeastern’s first four-point weekend of the year in which Reid finished plus-two. His 5-on-3 power play goal at the University of Massachusetts on Jan. 7 triggered three Huskies goals in 38 seconds.

Reid is the third Husky to collect conference laurels in 2010-11, joining teammates forward Rob Dongara and netminder Chris Rawlings, also a BCHL alumnus. Dongara was named Rookie of the Week on Nov. 22 while Rawlings was elected the Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 25.

He is now third on the Huskies in scoring with four goals and seven assists which puts him just behind fellow BCHL grads Wade MacLeod and Tyler McNeely.

Reid played four seasons in the BCHL with the Surrey Eagles, Burnaby Express and Penticton Vees before spending a year with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League. He produced 76 goals and 63 assists in 157 career BCHL games, including 52 goals in the 2007-08 season.
