BCHL, Save-On Foods partner to benefit BC Children’s Hospital

BURNABY, BC — November 17th, 2008 — The British Columbia Hockey League is inviting junior hockey fans province wide to join with the league’s 16 member teams to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital during the week of November 24th to 30th.

That week, each BC Hockey League team will donate $1 from every ticket sold to a se­lected home game to benefit BC Children’s Hospital.

This initiative, which is co-sponsored by Save-On-Foods and the Overwaitea Food Group, hopes to raise over $16,000 in the first of two special weeks that will take place during the 2008/09 BCHL regular season.

“The British Columbia Hockey League takes tremendous pride in giving back to the communities who support our 16 teams with passion and loyalty,” BCHL Commissioner John Grisdale says. “BC Children’s Hospital provides exceptional resources and treatment to children in need. It’s an honor to be able to benefit such a worthy cause.”

BC Children’s Hospital provides expert care for the province’s most seriously ill or injured children, including newborns and adolescents. Based in Vancouver, BC Children’s Hospital reaches across the province with vital health services that may not be available any­where else in B.C.

The hospital provides specialized training in pediatric health care and work with renowned researchers to achieve better health for children and youth.

The British Columbia Hockey League is Canada’s top Junior A hockey organization. The league’s 16 member franchises span the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, Kootenays and Northern British Columbia.
