BCHL Sunday: Vipers end trip on a high

The Vernon Vipers will be able to enjoy themselves on the long bus trip back to the Okanagan after defeating the Burnaby Express by a 5-2 score in the final game of their Mainland Division road swing.

Blueliner Kyle Bigos led the way offensively for Vernon, scoring a first period power-play goal and adding a pair of assists. The Vipers struck for four unanswered goals after Burnaby had taken a 2-1 lead to the dressing room after 20 minutes.

In Nanaimo, an overtime goal by Justin Favreau sealed a 4-2 win for the Clippers over the Quesnel Millionaires. Joe Perry scored two regulation-time goals for the home team, while Russell Goodman, Ronnie Smith and Carson Schell each contributed two assists.

Trevor Hertz, Robbie Bailey and Joshua Fersovitch replied for the Millionaires, who recieved a 39-save effort from Jeff Malcolm in the loss.

The league schedule now takes a break until Thursday, when the Langley Chiefs visit Langley and the Powell River Kings begin a four-game Interior Conference road trip in Prince George.
