Powell River Kings forward Kyle Betts has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 8, the league announced Monday.
Betts racked up nine points on five goals and four helpers as the Kings won twice on home ice. The native of Flesherton, Ont. started out with two goals and two assists in a 10-4 win over Prince George where he was the FortisBC Energy Player of the Game and he topped that the next night with a hat trick and two helpers and 1st Star in a 12-1 win over Coquitlam.
Committed to Cornell University for next season, Betts’ 13 goals and 16 assists put him currently sixth on the Kings in scoring with 29 points.
