Cowichan Valley Capitals goaltender Zach Borgiel has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, the league announced Monday.

The 19-year-old made his BCHL debut on Friday and he did not disappoint, making 35 saves to earn the shutout in his team’s 2-0 win over the Nanaimo Clippers. For his encore on Saturday, Borgiel swatted aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced as the Caps skated to an 8-2 win over the Victoria Grizzlies.

He finishes the weekend with two wins, a shutout, a .971 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.
