Brooks Bandits forward Nathan Free has been named the Alberta Division Player of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 18.
The 17-year-old Calgary, Alta. native piled up six points across two games last week on two goals and four assists.
In last Tuesday’s matinee road contest against the Okotoks Oilers, Free totaled five points in a 9-2 Brooks win. With his team down 1-0 early, the Penn State University commit assisted on the tying goal and then scored one of his own to give the Bandits a 2-1 lead at intermission. He added two more assists in the second period, then potted his sixth in the BCHL in the third to complete his five-point outing. He was named first star of the game.
Brooks was back on the ice Friday night for another road game, this time against the Blackfalds Bulldogs. Free’s lone assist in the game came on the overtime winner as the Bandits won 4-3.
The 2024 NHL Draft prospect leads the Alberta Division in points (14) and goals (seven), and is tied for the most assists (seven).
