Brossoit nets shutout as Pacific tops Quebec in final U-17 game

Cowichan Valley Capitals netminder Laurent Brossoit posted a shutout to lead Team Pacific to a 4-0 victory over Quebec on Sunday in their final game at the 2010 World Junior A Challenge.

With the win, Team Pacific finished fifth in the ten-team event. Pacific failed to qualify for the semi-finals after losing 2-1 to the United States in their final round robin game of the tournament on Saturday, January 2.

Brossoit made 19 saves in the win, improving his record at the tournament to 2-0. Overall, the 16-year old posted a 2.00 goals-against average and .902 save-percentage. His first appearance for Team Pacific was in a 10-4 win over Atlantic Canada in round-robin action.

Quesnel Millionaires forward Spencer Graboski also suited up for Team Pacific at the event, playing in four of the team's five games. The league was also represented by Salmon Arm SilverBacks head coach Matt Hughes and Burnaby Express trainer Grant Amman.

Team Ontario will take on Team USA on Monday in the Gold Medal game at the event. The game can be seen on TSN/RDS, the official broadcasters of Hockey Canada, at 8:30 PM.
