Bulldogs’ Muir commits to attend SAIT for the 2010/11 season

Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward Warren Muir has committed to attend the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and suit up for the SAIT Trojans for the 2010/11 season, the team announced Tuesday.

Muir, who is known for his commitment, hard work and dedication, had his best goal-scoring year during the 2010/11 campaign with 16 goals in 48 games. He is one of the longest serving Bulldogs, having started his junior career in Port Alberni as a 15-year old. He then enjoyed stints in Williams Lake and Nanaimo before returning to the Alberni Valley three seasons ago to finish out his junior career.

Last season, Muir helped the Bulldogs to a franchise record in wins and points in the regular season and was part of a squad that reached the Coastal Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history.

“Warren is a great person and hockey player, he will do great things with his life,” says Bulldogs assistant coach Paul Esdale.

Muir had several post-secondary opportunities in the U.S. and Canada to attend but settled on SAIT because of the school's Respiratory Therapy program. He will joins a Trojans program that has won four consecutive ACAC titles.

SAIT already boasts a number of BCHL grads, and the 20-year old joins Westside Warriors co-captain Joel Woznikoski as recent commits to the Calgary-based institution.
