Burnaby’s Perry captures Player of the Week honours

Burnaby Express rookie forward Garrick Perry was named the BC Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week of January 5th to 11th, the league announced Monday.

Perry scored three goals and added three assists in four games last week, and came up big in two impressive Express road wins.

First, the 18-year old struck for the double-overtime winner in Powell River on a night where he also notched a goal, an assist and was named the game's first star. And on Sunday, Perry assisted on a pair of goals in Burnaby's 5-4 overtime win in Cowichan Valley on a day where his team rallied from a three-goal third period deficit.

The Apple Valley, Minnesota native now leads the Express in scoring with 12 goals and 16 assists in 41 games. Burnaby returns to the ice on Friday when they open a six-game homestand against the Powell River Kings.
