Travis St. Denis' double-overtime goal kept the Penticton Vees winning streak alive in a 2-1 win but the Merritt Centennials came as close to breaking it as anyone has.
Sean Maktaak's power-play goal late in the first gave Merritt the lead but the visitors tied it on Mike Reilly's tally, also on the power play, at 15:43 of the second.
With less than a minute to go in the second extra frame, St. Denis finished a play from Reilly and Mario Lucia for the win which was Penticton's 36th straight. Tyler Steel made 44 saves for the Cents while Michael Garteig made 33 for the Vees.
In Powell River, the Kings got two goals from 1st Star Teagan Waugh and despite giving up two goal in 15 seconds to end the second, defeated the Vernon Vipers 4-2. The Kings were in control late in the second when a couple of defensive zone miscues led directly to goals by Aaron Hadley and Michael Zalewski. In the third, Daniel Schuler and Steven Schmidt tallied to win it.
The Westside Warriors and Trail Smoke Eaters exchanged three goals each in the second but it was the Warriors who opened and closed the scoring in 5-4 home win. Brennan Clark scored the only goal of the first before the second period scoring barrage which included Erik Cooper's first of two for Trail. Dustin Cave scored the winner unassisted in the third.
In Victoria, the Grizzlies didn't score until the third period on Cam Lawson's goal and it was not enough as the Nanaimo Clippers scored a 2-1 road win. Clayton Chessa scored in the first for the Clips and Jesse Neher's second period goal was the winner. Both Nanaim goals were unassisted.
Brady Rouleau earned a shutout while Matt Brown and Brett Knowles scored two goals each in a 4-0 win over the visiting Langley Rivermen. Langley affiliate goalie Nic Reynard made 46 saves.
Brayden Jaw scored twice including the game-winner for the Surrey Eagles in a 4-3 home win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Jaw opened the scoring in the first but Trent Dorais tied it late in the opening frame. Surrey scored twice in the first 2:05 of the second on goals by Trevor Cameron and Sean McGovern before Dorais replied for the 'Dogs.
Salmon Arm's Morgan Zulinick opened the scoring 28 seconds into the game but it was the only SilverBacks goal of the game as the visiting Prince George Spruce Kings scored a 4-1 win. Michael Colantone scored his first of two in the second period to tie it with Chase Golightly's winner coming just less than 10 minutes later.
