Cents send another on; Bokenfohr headed to NAIT

The run on Merritt Centennials grads continues as forward Blaine Bokenfohr has been grabbed by the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology for next season.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder split last season between the Dawson Creek Rage of the North American Hockey League and Merritt. With the Cents, he produced four goals and nine assists in 28 games.

"When we picked him up from Dawson Creek, he was the second 20-year-old we had at the time," said Merritt bench boss Luke Pierce. "He's a guy that was an excellent leader for us and played in any role.

"He'a a heart-and-soul guy that jelled with our team and he's picked an institution that is a real good fit for him."

It's a homecoming for Bokenfohr as he is a native of St. Albert, just outside Edmonton where the NAIT campus is located. Prior to this past season, Bokenfohr played two seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League with the Grande Prairie Storm.
