Cents spot two-goal lead to Warriors but storm back to win

The Westside Warriors got the start they wanted by scoring twice in the first period in Merritt but the Centennials spoiled the Warriors plans, getting goals from four different players in the second period on their way to a 6-3 win at Nicola Valley Arena.

Evan Stack picked up a goal and two assists in the second period and was named the game's first star. But Tyler Krause's goal late in the frame kept Westside within a goal heading into the third.

Merritt locked up the win in the third with Sean Maktaak and Max Vallis, on his second goal of the game, tallying. Lino Chimienti made 33 saves on 36 shots to get the win.

In Quesnel, Matt Larose got his second shutout of the season for the Trail Smoke Eaters as they defeated the Millionaires 4-0. Dylan Tappe scored late in the first with what would prove to be the game-winning goal. Cullen Bradshaw, Ryan Luiten and Nic DeSousa also counted for the Smokies with Bradshaw adding an assist to take first star.

In Nanaimo, the Clippers were involved in a 2-1 game for the second straight night but this time came out on the short end of an overtime affair against the Surrey Eagles. After a scoreless first period, Brad McGowan's unassisted effort got Surrey on the board. Leo Fitzgerald forced overtime for Nanaimo with a third-period marker but McGowan ended it less than a minute in OT with his second of the night.

In Victoria, the Powell River Kings held the BCHL's new points leader David Morley off the scoresheet which helped them to a 4-2 win over the Grizzlies. The Kings' Chad Niddery scored late in the first and early in the second for two of his three goals but Evan Richardson made it a one-goal game going to the third. Mike Sones made it 3-1 Kings early in the third and after a Grizz goal from Chase Paylor, Niddery got his hat trick into an empty net.

In Alberni Valley, the Bulldogs rode a three-goal second period to a 5-2 triumph over the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals. The 'Dogs' Casey Bailey and Caps' Alex Marcinew, with his first in the BCHL, exchanged goals in the first before the decisive second period where two goals in 1:10 by Sawyer Mick and Trent Dorais gave the home side a three-goal cushion. Austin Evans brought the Caps within two but Bailey's second of the night iced it for the 'Dogs.

In Prince George, the Vernon Vipers got two points from David Robinson for the second straight night and defeated the Spruce Kings 4-1. Robinson tallied twice including the game-winner on the power play in the first period. Marcus Basara and Patrick McGillis also scored for the Snakes while Connor Tiechko scored on the power play for Prince George.

In Langley, the Chiefs and Penticton Vees combined for 11 goals but the Vees took the two points for the second straight night in a 6-5 overtime win. Langley's Darnell Dyck had three assists but the Penticton Vees' duo of NHL draft picks Mark MacMillan and Brendan O'Donnell led the response, producing eight points between them. It was O'Donnell's third-period tally, his second of the game, that forced OT where Garrett Milan's unassisted goal ended it.
