Sports Zone Hockey on www.valleytelevision.com is the new home of the BCHL Chilliwack Chiefs this 2004-2005 season.
This first-ever online television station’s purpose is to provide Chilliwack News, Entertainment, and of course Sports through virtual television technology with just a click of a button. Now fans and family members from Chilliwack and abroad who are unable to attend games taking place in Chilliwack have the opportunity to view their teams live via the internet from the comfort of their own home by simply going to www.valleytelevision.com.
Vanni De Bartolo is an experienced sports broadcaster graduated from BCIT broadcasting program and will be calling the play-by-play for the Chiefs throughout the season. Vanni notes, “The Chiefs established themselves as the first team in the BCHL to have an audio broadcast back in the 1990’s, so it’s only fitting for them to be the first ever team in junior “A” hockey to broadcast over the internet via video-web casting.”
Jacob Bestabroer will handle the colour commentary and points out, “The Internet is the wave of the future and having the Chilliwack Chiefs’ General Manager Harvey Smyl agree to this project will undoubtedly raise the Chiefs and their fans to a whole new level.”
De Bartolo and Bestabroer did audio commentary for the Chilliwack Chiefs games last season.
The pre-game show will focus on the BCHL as a whole giving fans up to date information concerning all 18 teams. Experienced sports broadcaster Ryan Jobb will host the pre-game show.
