Thirty Canadian Junior `A’ Hockey League players have committed to National Collegiate Athletic Association schools in 2004-05.

Also, CJAHL attendance reached 747,398 for 998 regular-season games in seven member leagues through Nov. 16.

BRITISH COLUMBIA HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks won twice in two games during the week ending Nov. 16 to maintain their four-point advantage in the Interior Conference, and overall, in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Salmon Arm has a 19-5-1 record. The defending champion Vernon Vipers are 15-6-0 and have five overtime losses, for 35 points in 26 games.

The Chilliwack Chiefs lead the Mainland Division of the Coastal Conference, at 17-8-0. The Surrey Eagles are 15-9-0 and have two overtime losses, for 32 points in 26 games.

The Nanaimo Clippers had three wins in three games. Nanaimo is first in the Island Division of the Coastal Conference, with a 16-7-0 record and two overtime losses, for 34 points in 25 games.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals are 13-8-2 and have three overtime losses, for 31 points in 26 games.

Ryan McLeod scored three times Nov. 14 in Salmon Arm’s 6-4 win before a league season-high 2,889 fans in Vernon.

Jason Miller accumulated three goals and one assist Nov. 15 in Salmon Arm’s 6-5 win before 1,768 fans in Chilliwack. Teammate Evan Barlow totaled two goals and two assists.

Blaine Jarvis chipped in with four assists for Salmon Arm.

Goalie Steve Belanger made 36 stops Nov. 15 in Vernon’s 4-0 win over the Penticton Panthers before 2,217 fans in Vernon.

Mike Santorelli contributed two goals and two assists Nov. 16 in Vernon’s 6-5 overtime win over the Trail Smoke Eaters before 1,664 fans in Vernon.

Troy Duncan had two goals and three assists Nov. 12 in Chilliwack’s 7-6 win over the Langley Hornets before 1,060 fans in Chilliwack. Teammate Tyler Burton had one goal and three assists.

Burton leads the league with 36 assists and 49 points in 25 games.

Goalie Curtis Darling had 52 saves Nov. 14 in Chilliwack’s 5-2 win over the Powell River Kings before 1,278 fans in Chilliwack.

Donald Johnson had one goal and two assists Nov. 15 in Surrey’s 5-4 win over Powell River before 1,322 fans in Surrey.

Tyson Mulock had one goal and one assist Nov. 12 in Nanaimo’s 4-3 win over the Victoria Salsa in Victoria.

Goalie Jeff Pasemko made 31 stops Nov. 13 in Nanaimo’s 4-2 win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before 1,617 fans in Port Alberni.

Pasemko had 25 saves Nov. 14 in a 5-2 win over Victoria before 2,360 fans in Nanaimo.

Kris Boyce scored three times Nov. 14 in Cowichan Valley’s 8-2 win over the Prince George Spruce Kings before 1,206 fans in Prince George.

Tom Phillips had two goals Nov. 15 in Cowichan Valley’s 6-4 win over the Quesnel Millionaires in Quesnel.

Marc Belanger contributed four goals Nov. 14 in Penticton’s 4-2 win over the Merritt Centennials on home ice.

David Jones and Darcy Corcoran accumulated two goals and two assists each Nov. 15 in the Coquitlam Express 8-1 win in Langley.

Shane McCormick scored three times and added two assists Nov. 15 in Merritt’s 6-5 overtime win over Trail on home ice.

Chilliwack veteran Adam Powell leads the league with 25 goals in 25 games.

Eric Bourbeau of Powell River leads league goalies with a 2.63 goals against average in 526 minutes.

Also, the league attracted 10,241 fans to seven games Nov. 14, for an average of 1,463 fans per game.

The BCHL leads CJAHL member leagues with attendance of 238,607 through 212 games, for an average of 1,126 fans per game.

Nanaimo leads the league and is second in the CJAHL with an average of 2,295 fans for 13 home games. Nanaimo has attracted 29,831 fans.

Vernon is second in the league with an average of 1,953 fans per game through 13 home games.

SUPERIOR INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Fort William, Ont., First Nation North Stars won three times in three games during the week ending Nov. 15 to take a one-point lead in the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Fort William has a 13-4-1 record. The Dryden, Ont., IceDogs are 11-3-3 and have one overtime loss, for 26 points in 18 games.

League-leading scorer Spencer Bodnar contributed two goals and two assists Nov. 12 in Fort William’s 9-0 win over the Thunder Bay, Ont., Bulldogs in Thunder Bay. Bodnar leds the league with 25 assists and 36 points in 18 games.

Goalie Daniel Beardy had 28 saves for Fort William.

Steve Atkins had two goals and one assist Nov. 14 in Fort William’s 8-5 win over the Couchiching First Nations, Ont., Borderland Thunder on home ice.

Kory McEwan had two goals and one assist Nov. 15 in Fort William’s 6-2 win over Borderland on home ice.

Joel Poshtar of Dryden leads the league with 22 goals in 18 games.

Liam Johnston of Dryden leads league goalies with a 2.81 goals against average, .917 saves percentage and 8-3-3 won-lost-tied record in 834 minutes.

MARITIME JUNIOR `A’ HOCKEY LEAGUE

The Yarmouth, N. S., Motormart Mariners extended their winning streak to four games during the week ending Nov. 16 to remain within five points of first place overall in the Maritime Junior `A’ Hockey League.

The Truro, N. S., Bearcats won twice in two games to retain their lead over Yarmouth in the Maurice Bent Division and overall. Truro has a 14-2-4 record.

Yarmouth was also 2-0-0 during the week, is 13-5-0 and has one overtime loss in 19 games.

The Miramichi, N. B., Timberwolves are first in the Roger Meek Division, at 10-6-1.

League-leading goalie Matt Climie made 32 stops Nov. 13 in Truro’s 3-2 win over the Antigonish, N. S., Bulldogs in Antigonish.

Climie, 20, had 26 saves Nov. 15 in a 3-1 win over the Moncton,

N. B., Gagnon Beavers on home ice. Climie has a 2.24 goals against average, .926 saves percentage and 13-1-3 won-lost-tied record in 1,045 minutes.

Jason Hedges scored three times Nov. 15 in Yarmouth’s 7-4 win over the Summerside, P. E. I., Western Capitals before a sellout crowd of 1,275 fans in Yarmouth.

Hedges had two goals Nov. 16 in a 4-2 win over Summerside before another sellout crowd.

Goalie Todd Veary had 27 saves Nov. 15 in Miramichi’s 5-1 win over Halifax Team Pepsi before 1,136 fans in Miramichi.

Andre Gill had two goals Nov. 16 in Miramichi’s 4-2 win in Antigonish.

Steve Yetman of Yarmouth leads the league with 27 assists and 35 points in 19 games.

Adam Nelson of the expansion Woodstock, N. B., Subway Slammers leads the league with 18 goals in 18 games.

SASKATCHEWAN JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE

Veteran goalie Justin Pesony stopped 93 of 98 shots in 180 minutes during the week ending Nov. 16 as the Battlefords North Stars extended their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League winning streak through seven games.

Battlefords had a 3-0-0 record, leads the Dodge Conference and has taken the overall league lead at 15-4-1. The defending league, Anavet Cup and Royal Bank Cup national junior A champion Humboldt Broncos are tied with the Kindersley Klippers for second place in the conference, and overall.

Humboldt and Kindersley are each 14-7-2.

The Melville Millionaires lead the Sherwood Conference with a 14-7-0 record and one overtime loss, for 29 points in 22 games. The Weyburn Red Wings are 13-9-1.

Jesse Matlock had two goals and one assist Nov. 11 in Battlefords 7-2 win over the Yorkton Terriers on home ice in North Battleford.

Cole Fern scored three times and added two assists Nov. 14 in Battlefords 6-2 win over the Flin Flon, Man., Bombers before 1,029 fans in North Battleford.

Pesony, 20, made 43 stops Nov. 15 in a 3-1 win over the Nipawin Hawks in Nipawin.
