Coastal Wrap: Chiefs grab fourth place and home ice with win

The Langley Chiefs made sure that they would begin the postseason on home ice, posting a 3-1 road victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs in their final regular season game on Saturday evening.

Warren Muir opened the scoring for the Bulldogs on a late first period power-play, but the lead wouldn't last long. Jordan Sims replied on a Langley man advantage before intermission, and Mac Roy and Mitch Pacey capped off the victory with back-to-back goals in the third.

Alberni Valley starter Frank Slubowski was the busier of the two netminders, facing 32 shots in a losing effort. Chiefs netminder Mark Friesen made 25 saves in the victory.

In other Coastal Conference-based action:

  • Mike Hammond scored once and set up another Cowichan Valley goal, as the Caps scored three times in the first period of a 3-0 win over Victoria. Brendon MacDonald and Nicholas Wong also tallied for the vistors, while Alexandre Peck turned aside 26 shots in the shutout. Colin Fernandes stopped 15 shots before giving way to Tanner McGraw for the final 20 minutes.
