Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Tate Coughlin has commited to the University of Regina Cougars for the 2018-19 season.
Coughlin finished third in team scoring in 2017-18 with 33 points in 33 regular-season games. The 6-foot-2, 187-pound Victoria native also had nine points in 13 games the previous season with the Nanaimo Clippers. He finishes with 42 points in 46 BCHL games over two years.
Regina plays in the Canada West conference of USports along with Alberta, UBC, Calgary, Lethrbidge, Manitoba, Mount Royal and Saskatchewan. Last year, the Cougars finished eighth in the conference with a record of 4-22-2.
Regina’s 2017-18 roster featured former Powell River Kings forward J.J. Coleshaw as the lone BCHL recruit.
Coughlin is the only current BCHL player to commit to the Cougars.
