Eagles’ Hartley commits to RIT

The Surrey Eagles are thrilled to announce that forward Adam Hartley has received a scholarship to attend the Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2009/10 season.

Hartley has been the leading scorer for the Eagles all season, tallying 27 points in 21 games so far while consistently being the team’s top centre. As a 20 year-old, his leadership on the ice has been invaluable.

“We are very pleased for Adam and his family,” Eagles head coach Shane Kuss says. “He has really stepped up for us this season and deserves all the accolades he receives. We know he will be successful the rest of our season and at RIT.”

The Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is a private higher education institute, emphasizing career preparation, located in the town of Henrietta, outside of Rochester, New York. RIT has a student body of about 16,000 and faculty of some 1,300.

The school’s hockey team, known as the Tigers, plays in the NCAA Division I Atlantic Hockey Association and last year the school accepted former Surrey Eagle Scott Knowles to join their squad.

Other former Eagles to receive scholarships recently include Brody Toigo – Iowa State University, Phil Magistrale – Wilfred Laurier University, and Cameron Sinclair – Bowling Green.

The Eagles organization takes pride in providing an environment which allows their players to achieve their goals academically and competitively on the ice.

The Eagles are very proud of Adam and wish him all the best when he joins the Tigers next season.
