Eagles pair Strang and Tartaglione land scholarships to SAIT

The Surrey Eagles are pleased to announce that a pair of graduating players have earned scholarship commitments to SAIT of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.

Netminder Tommy Tartaglione and forward Brennan Strang will both attend the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology beginning this fall.

Tartaglione has been a force between the pipes since joining the Eagles during the 2007/08 season. He played in all but seven regular season games during the 2008/09 campaign, recording 24 wins and posting impressive GAA and save percentage totals of 3.01 and .910.

Strang, who was acquired from Powell River prior to the 2008/09 season, recorded 14 goals and 31 assists in 57 games as an Eagle. In three seasons, the Saskatoon native totalled 118 points in 172 BCHL games.

“We are very pleased to have both players join the SAIT program,” Babey stated. “Tommy brings his strong goaltending experience and a successful record which will go along with SAIT's past success. Brennan is a solid player whose on-ice energy will suit the forechecking style of the team.”

SAIT boasts a very successful program which has won the Canadian College National Championships a total of five times since 2000. They are coached by Ken Babey, who has led the program for 22 seasons and guided Denmark to Gold at the IIHF Pool B championships in 2007.
