Eagles take second game of home-and-home series from Burnaby

The Surrey Eagles received excellent goaltending and just enough offence to get by on Saturday night, defeating the Burnaby Express for the second time in as many nights, this time by a 2-1 score.

Surrey forward Tyler Morley opened the scoring late in the second period and the Eagles took a one goal lead into the intermission. But a tying goal from Matt Ius at the 6:09 mark of the third knotted the score, setting up a winner from Grant Toulmin less than four minutes later.

Vinny Lessard picked up the win in net for the Eagles, turning aside 34 shots, including 27 through 40 minutes. Lessard was named the game's third star. Burnaby starter Harrison May allowed a pair of goals on 25 shots in the loss.

The Express are now idle through Thursday, when they play the first of back-to-back games against the Langey Chiefs. Surrey, meanwhile, is back on the ice tomorrow when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters.
