Express forwards Straight and Reid sign with NCAA Division I programs

Destry Straight and Brad Reid are two of the latest BCHL players to make commitments to NCAA Division I hockey programs.

Straight, who signed with the Boston College Eagles, is in his first year in the BCHL and his scholarship is set to begin in the 2012-13 season while veteran Reid will play for the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers next year.

“They're both key contributors for us, both top-six forwards,” noted Express President and General Manager Darcy Rota. “We're happy for them; this is what they wanted with their hockey and education careers so we're delighted to help them reach their goals.”

Straight has been listed on the NHL Central Scouting watch list as a potential first- or second-round pick for the 2011 Entry Draft. He will play for Team West at the CJHL Prospects Game December 7th and 8th in Dauphin, Manitoba.

Reid is currently averaging a point per game for the Express and will be joined at RIT by current BCHLers Brandon Thompson (Langley), Matt Garbowsky (Powell River Kings) and Brad McGowan (Surrey).
