Express split four-game trip to Dawson Creek

After a four-game stay in Dawson Creek, it's fair to say the Burnaby Express will be glad to get home and pick on BCHL competition once again. What had been shaping up as a highly successful road trip — after consecutive wins over Prince George — quickly soured Friday and Saturday when the Grand Prairie Storm came to town.

Riding high off 6-4 and 5-2 wins over the Spruce Kings, Burnaby received a rude awakening from a strong Storm squad that cruised to 4-0 and 6-2 preseason decisions.

Despite the pair of losses, the trip was a notable success for the Express and hockey fans in Northern British Columbia. The four-game series attracted an average crowd of more than 1,000 per night at the city's brand-new EnCana Events Centre.

Burnaby now returns to the Lower Mainland for their final preparations for the regular season before kicking off their 2008/09 campaign in Powell River on Friday, September 5th.
