The 10 days off the Coquitlam Express spent getting ready for the Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup did nothing to slow the production of captain Ryan Rosenthal.
The Express' BCHL playoff scoring leader tallied twice, including the game-winner in the third period, as Coquitlam defeated Alberta's Spruce Grove Saints Sunday at the WCC in Dauphin, Man.
Rosenthal converted an Adam Rockwood feed in the first period to open the scoring and scored during a four-on-four stint in the third for the deciding tally. Canon Pieper had the insurance marker with 1:17 to go.
Isaac Farrah had the lone Saints goal.
Gordie Defiel made 31 saves in the Express crease. Coquitlam plays the Manitoba league-champion Winnipeg Blues Monday at 5 p.m. Pacific.

Coquitlam gets into action and two teams have even records after day two at the Western Canada Cup!
Fourteen goals were scored Sunday night at Credit Union Place as the Yorkton Terriers slipped past the Dauphin Kings 8-6 in game four of the 2014 Crescent Point Energy Western Canada Cup.
The second period was the story where six goals were scored, four by the Yorkton Terriers, and three of them were from Brett Boehm (1, 2 & 3) who had four points on the night. Scoring Sunday for the Terriers besides Boehm were Corwin Stevely (1), Tayler Thompson (1) and Kailum Gervais (1 & 2).
On the other side of the puck you have to give a great deal of credit to the Dauphin Kings who did not go away when they were down 6-3 heading into the third period. They came out flying in the final frame and got the game to within one goal twice. Scoring for the Kings Sunday were Tanner Lomsnes (1 & 2), Chandler Irvin (1), Ryan Cooper (1), Tanner Butler (3) and Dillan McCombie (1).
Lomsnes was Dauphin's player of the game, Boehm was Yorkton's.
Special Teams were huge in the fourth game of the tournament. Dauphin ended the evening 4 for 6 while Yorkton was 2 for 3. Maybe a rough night stats wise for both goalies, bounces and other shenanigans weren't on their side. Dauphin's Michael Stiliadis stopped 33 of 40 shots he faced. Yorkton had a total of 41 on goal with the empty netter. The Kings launched 26 shots at Kale Thomson who was back in after missing the first game for the Terriers with the flu.
Both Dauphin and Yorkton now have records of 1-1 at the WCC and sit tied for third and fourth in the standings.

As he did throughout the BCHL Playoffs Ryan Rosenthal led the way for the Coquitlam Express Sunday afternoon in a 3-1 victory over the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL.
Rosenthal (1 & 2), Captain of the Express, had two goals for Coquitlam while Canon Pieper (1) had the third marker for the Express to put the game away.
The contest was actually a tight one until the third period when Coquitlam seemed to take over, outshooting Spruce Grove 14-9 in the final frame. In total Coquitlam put 28 shots on the Saints' Kenny Cameron while Spruce Grove had 32 on Gordie Defiel of the Express.
Power Plays were and were not a factor. Both teams had chances but were unable to capitalize. Coquitlam ended the tilt 0 for 4 while Spruce Grove finished 0 for 6.
A scary incident in the third period when Coquitlam's Bo Pieper fell hard and awkwardly into the boards after being interfered with by the Saints' Gabe Bast. After a long time on the ice Pieper got up and seemed to be ok, finishing the game with a few shifts and setting up the third goal. Bast was handed five and a game for interference on the play.
Judging by the way things look, Tuesday is going to be 'Moving Day' at the Western Canada Cup. The Kings, Terriers and Saints all have Monday off.
The lone contest Monday features the Winnipeg Blues and Coquitlam Express, game time is 7:00pm (5 p.m. Pacific)
